EVERYDAY LIFE
I finally listened to the little voice in my head and started painting about 14 years ago at the age of 50. It has been the most wonderful journey so far...
I am hugely influenced by my surroundings, my home and my background. Our daily fruit and veg, flower’s from Mr Japhta’s Flower farm and proteas from the flower seller’s outside Chardonnay Deli in Constantia. Special old items that evoke memories of time past - some
rusty battered enamel bought in Steytlerville, a beautiful custard jug from Prince Albert in the Karoo, inherited blue and white china and a very big pile of blue and white tea towels.
I am also incredibly blessed to live in a city like ours where inspiration is never far away - you only have to look at the mountain and the sea to be inspired.
If I can capture this beauty on canvas for you to enjoy then I have done my work. After all it is not what the work is but how it makes you feel - and I hope that is one of calmness and quiet.
I encourage you to look carefully at the beauty of the simple things in everyday life.
