Dawie Fourie

I was born in Johannesburg in 1964.

"I've loved the veld and wildlife for as long as I can remember. After school and military service, I worked in Air Traffic Control for two years, after which I pursued my studies in Nature Conservation. I had the privilege of working in Nature conservation and veterinary research before starting a full-time career in art 36 years ago. I have maintained my involvement with conservation over the last 36 years.

I have a particular interest in conservation in Kenya. I have contributed significantly to NGO's such as the San Diego Zoo, Tsavo Trust for Elephants, the Mt. Elgon Foundation, Kenya, the South African Wildlife College, as well as research projects on lions in the USA and Zimbabwe, as well as the training of anti-poaching dogs in South Africa.

I've had 6 Solo exhibitions, 30 plus group exhibitions and 6 private exhibitions, including exhibitions in the USA, France, Dubai, Spain and Norway.

My work is in many private and corporate collections, including the "Coca Cola" Company, South African Breweries, South African Government, including South African National Parks Board and the Department of Arts and Culture. Also, the private collections of the Bank of Canada, Joachim Chisano (former president of Mozambique), the Harber Wildlife Museum, and Tottenham Hot Spurs Football Club, to name but a few.
